Safe, no contact, no jumping and weights for my arms and legs.</p><p>Picked up kayaking, light hikes, and after work walks.</p><p>Another thing I like doing is getting massages and the only thing I am afraid of is when the masseuse forgets that I told them where my ankle surgery scar is to avoid massaging the area because I still have my rod and 9 nails in it.</p><p>With hikes and walks, my limit is about 21,000 steps before I start to feel tired and achy and will need to take a break. </p><p>I'm still a weather detector, the arthritis hits when cold and rain comes. </p><p>The painful accidental ankle bumping into things feels just like hitting the elbow. Painful tingle.</p><p>Scar looks the same, more easy on the ankle workouts continued.</p><p>Doing great! </p><p>Hoping for fast recoveries for you all, you'll get there! Keep at the physical therapy and exercises!</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhahgZT_A9J3fqyJ5ubqToE9K21-SEXL-SOW74X-KXtZgrTyFTzlv0fJ9-HV5hHNpH4X9Fvz09e1dgPgg8GJhLz1ehUuo85qEh05vnYrJqJqWjI4DUdZxEh60gjgN-BptRXX0mi0zcj6dm_q0EvFJ0lOTIhVQMqfOfItDb7uYd9X5dXo-ATfgFvkAcN1p0/s3452/IMG_3430.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3452" data-original-width="2072" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhahgZT_A9J3fqyJ5ubqToE9K21-SEXL-SOW74X-KXtZgrTyFTzlv0fJ9-HV5hHNpH4X9Fvz09e1dgPgg8GJhLz1ehUuo85qEh05vnYrJqJqWjI4DUdZxEh60gjgN-BptRXX0mi0zcj6dm_q0EvFJ0lOTIhVQMqfOfItDb7uYd9X5dXo-ATfgFvkAcN1p0/s320/IMG_3430.jpg" width="192" /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhahgZT_A9J3fqyJ5ubqToE9K21-SEXL-SOW74X-KXtZgrTyFTzlv0fJ9-HV5hHNpH4X9Fvz09e1dgPgg8GJhLz1ehUuo85qEh05vnYrJqJqWjI4DUdZxEh60gjgN-BptRXX0mi0zcj6dm_q0EvFJ0lOTIhVQMqfOfItDb7uYd9X5dXo-ATfgFvkAcN1p0/s3452/IMG_3430.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm5cvOCqyY0sQdhiDXc4X6x2XY5eb9poSfpAfsywclA65G5A30M6l7AtIrmjOndcHOSBwo6mHnNL0R1HLSAueqVt9p6f9x_VpVtb-nyCQWoMSoFtzVD-8mVj-2NrCJLX08RIisA--rElfw5tehDki2n-rOzwdHecrV-g5Xl6j8vWWPUbn1DZjDH-lGPYs/s4032/IMG_2613.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm5cvOCqyY0sQdhiDXc4X6x2XY5eb9poSfpAfsywclA65G5A30M6l7AtIrmjOndcHOSBwo6mHnNL0R1HLSAueqVt9p6f9x_VpVtb-nyCQWoMSoFtzVD-8mVj-2NrCJLX08RIisA--rElfw5tehDki2n-rOzwdHecrV-g5Xl6j8vWWPUbn1DZjDH-lGPYs/w407-h305/IMG_2613.jpg" width="407" /></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div><b style="font-family: "times new roman";"><span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></b></div>jenshungryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13134359105078888977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7669169814036481549.post-82450953263739969922023-02-24T17:55:00.002-08:002023-02-24T17:55:12.858-08:0010 years 5 months - I feel the cold and rain!<p> </p><div style="font-family: "times new roman";"><b><span style="color: blue;">Friday - February 24, 2023</span></b></div><div style="font-family: "times new roman";"><b><span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></b></div><div style="font-family: "times new roman";">Happy New Year! 5 months late haha! </div><div style="font-family: "times new roman";"><br /></div><div style="font-family: "times new roman";">We're living through crazy weathers with rain, thunder, lightening, earthquakes, and now snow in the city! My max steps per day are still around 13k steps. Gaining weight of course is no good, more weight stresses my ankle. </p><p>It still gets achy when the weather changes, especially for cold and rain. At most, I use a Salonpa patch or icy hot roller around the ankle for when I sleep.</p><p>Once in a while, I get a weird pinch pain if I lean my ankle the wrong way, mostly only to the right a bit too much.</p><p>No limping, no horrible pain. The metal I don't feel anymore because I'm so used to it. I still also sometimes still have the random keloid itch on the scar. </p><div>Shoe shopping has changed for me. I’m about quality over cheap shoes now. Even with rain shoes, snow, flats, and comfort! It has to be comfortable, cushioned, and long lasting. I finally have time to write an update post!</span></b></p><p>I bought a tennis racket and recently started to play tennis for the first time since I broke my ankle! </p><p>The first time I played I wore the wrong shoes, running shoes were too soft to grip the floor when playing. It almost felt like I was running around in socks and got really tired. No pain, no soreness. My ankle held up!</p><p>The next time I played, I wore the right workout shoes that were more stiff and sturdy to support the entire foot for when I sidestep. This time, with stiffer shoes, I did notice my side stepping while playing, I feel a stiffness in my ankle where the metal is on my outer right ankle. I did notice leaning over to the right, it feels as if I can't bend my ankle/body to the right as I use to. It was a bit uncomfortable but not painful in the ankle. Felt like the rod was in the way but it was just against my bone and I can feel the pressure. But it's not bothersome to the point I need to stop playing. More tennis to come! So much fun and I'm so happy I can play!</p><p><b style="font-family: "times new roman";"><span style="color: blue;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo9GQ9LFZVv8Z0BLZB8HpdO6e4W_9xxWMOZPASFNImsZZfSYKWNiQCQaH3Xz-tcN0M3KmUKp_Ksfa1V5ERaO7ZGYUAP1sRPRQ1LRLv8wSd_QZ4eSyblg_Y9zTmR71-3CF0CLGtg96Dhw8EL2ABbZAcBipEHM__74ff4DKvYOKiz1afoTx_CuzTfi6L/s2048/tennis%207.4.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo9GQ9LFZVv8Z0BLZB8HpdO6e4W_9xxWMOZPASFNImsZZfSYKWNiQCQaH3Xz-tcN0M3KmUKp_Ksfa1V5ERaO7ZGYUAP1sRPRQ1LRLv8wSd_QZ4eSyblg_Y9zTmR71-3CF0CLGtg96Dhw8EL2ABbZAcBipEHM__74ff4DKvYOKiz1afoTx_CuzTfi6L/s320/tennis%207.4.jpeg" width="320" /></a></span></b></p><p><span style="font-family: "times new roman";">I continue cycling at home virtually for workouts.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: "times new roman";"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b style="font-family: "times new roman";"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj06wgRPHRj25zAdtUniMY1wZgbsEBXPH5N57gr58k0a5I4yUaoey8SNFBFkdwZpY1i_zyXJ4k5CHl6ptoW93TPvPy8h4YUK07FMcCIV6wBqlhqtaqEpqi7LROTEGhDMylFOIjmDYALV6EEtBMf_h1U28G7TNYKtHfbo4gmnL3L4JkdjoBV0Y59XWoP/s2048/bike%207.4.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj06wgRPHRj25zAdtUniMY1wZgbsEBXPH5N57gr58k0a5I4yUaoey8SNFBFkdwZpY1i_zyXJ4k5CHl6ptoW93TPvPy8h4YUK07FMcCIV6wBqlhqtaqEpqi7LROTEGhDMylFOIjmDYALV6EEtBMf_h1U28G7TNYKtHfbo4gmnL3L4JkdjoBV0Y59XWoP/s320/bike%207.4.jpeg" width="240" /></a></b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I've also started cycling outdoors around the city!</div><span style="font-family: "times new roman";"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYSdTLcmNiJCAW24yezNNrptM0aEYZvqzQdEycNfOhbCxD4wgC_7nUpdXGl1sqXIsh9klbIF678soCM8qd-KoxWs1gdcjMSVPHNYnIEoDUL4rs3OaJjg8KfZPaWn12GE-JeATD0jFhir3yvC5S6k9ct89N3571RSYEdKqeEfeLIZx40au2ODXtVUp5/s2048/biking%207.4.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="2048" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYSdTLcmNiJCAW24yezNNrptM0aEYZvqzQdEycNfOhbCxD4wgC_7nUpdXGl1sqXIsh9klbIF678soCM8qd-KoxWs1gdcjMSVPHNYnIEoDUL4rs3OaJjg8KfZPaWn12GE-JeATD0jFhir3yvC5S6k9ct89N3571RSYEdKqeEfeLIZx40au2ODXtVUp5/s320/biking%207.4.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-weight: bold; text-align: left;">I am buying shoes with thicker heels! I also sometimes still have the random keloid itch on the scar. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tAWTVxeKS38/YU597cAI4WI/AAAAAAABEBM/Qrgxu2yzMjgLPlo4h1P2wpAKqMfDdNhJACLcBGAsYHQ/s2436/B8D01AAE-02F8-489A-AD5C-E451D74E16BE.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2436" data-original-width="1125" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tAWTVxeKS38/YU597cAI4WI/AAAAAAABEBM/Qrgxu2yzMjgLPlo4h1P2wpAKqMfDdNhJACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/B8D01AAE-02F8-489A-AD5C-E451D74E16BE.png" width="148" /></a></div><p>So far so good! Mostly Turbo Kick, Zumba, HIIT type workouts. I still avoid full tuck jumps in Turbo Kick classes to avoid falling, twisting my ankle. Still feel cautious to this day with jumps. Too much pressure on the ankle when I land on the ankle, I feel. Better be safe then pay for it if I do fall wrong. With lockdown in place, this is the next best thing. Also out on walks, socially distanced safe walks to get my steps in. I miss going to the gym... my Fitbit stopped charging yesterday. Time to get a new one for the new year! </p><p>All year, I’ve been online shopping for wedge shoes. The last pair I bought was from Cole Haan. I’m all about the cushioned or cloud foamed shoes. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UIofctXXuQQ/X-68VlqDg4I/AAAAAAABB3w/XZUQ55W5GgId1_A3OiD1wHXew8URzxNUACLcBGAsYHQ/s836/51F4C6CD-B8DC-4C63-9ED3-D7FF1C4A054D.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="738" data-original-width="836" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UIofctXXuQQ/X-68VlqDg4I/AAAAAAABB3w/XZUQ55W5GgId1_A3OiD1wHXew8URzxNUACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/51F4C6CD-B8DC-4C63-9ED3-D7FF1C4A054D.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I also buy anything that sits below the ankle. Still avoiding boots. Also in love with comfortable slip on casual Van shoes! </div><div><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rb1JrKx5zag/X-68VugjZbI/AAAAAAABB3s/IVOqma1L1p4nx1ch5yCUe4MP56BiPJ6IACLcBGAsYHQ/s1124/276E8213-1601-48FF-AF8D-DCC07C5335F8.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="889" data-original-width="1124" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rb1JrKx5zag/X-68VugjZbI/AAAAAAABB3s/IVOqma1L1p4nx1ch5yCUe4MP56BiPJ6IACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/276E8213-1601-48FF-AF8D-DCC07C5335F8.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>My scar tells my story. I’m not afraid to hide it. I think it’s pretty cool actually haha. I’ve seen some people have tattooed their scars, so many creative ideas such as fish bones with the head and tail at the ends of the scar. It appears I may have developed a Keloid. Keloids are scars that grow past the wound, which created what looks like a growth on the skin. It’s been itchy<span style="color: #3c4043; font-family: Roboto, HelveticaNeue, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); background-color: white; caret-color: rgb(60, 64, 67); font-size: 14px; white-space: break-spaces;"> lately.</span></span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv8Fdfz1Wns/X-6-Dlb0F9I/AAAAAAABB4A/7iygLm48eIQLC9Tb1wqwFTNCbWBFQucdwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/90C1B08E-9080-4715-B96E-A6C1D1DDE8CA.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Hv8Fdfz1Wns/X-6-Dlb0F9I/AAAAAAABB4A/7iygLm48eIQLC9Tb1wqwFTNCbWBFQucdwCLcBGAsYHQ/w266-h320/90C1B08E-9080-4715-B96E-A6C1D1DDE8CA.jpeg" width="266" /></a></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;">I learned my max amount of steps is about 23,000 while on my walks. I need in between breaks or I’ll start feeling achy. I am definitely tired in the ankle and almost to a limp. I now know my walking limits.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Happy New Year! On to a better and safer new year! Virtual workout classes continue! </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p>jenshungryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13134359105078888977noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7669169814036481549.post-61539333593594593792020-09-24T22:45:00.002-07:002020-09-24T22:46:32.869-07:008 years - Ankleversary!Today marks 8 years since the day I broke my ankle (fibula) and had surgery two days later and came out with a plate and 9 screws, still in there! Looking at it from an angle, you can see the nails protruding, and can definitely feel it when I run my fingers down the scar. Since covid lock down, I recently started taking weekend city urban hikes. I can now last as long as 4 hours max with some sitting breaks in between. I did find myself with a little limp and some aching. I think 3 hours is my limit really, because I do feel tired and sore. No pain. No pinch, or well I do get a random pinch here and there still. And when it rains or gets cold, I feel the arthritis kick in. The hard ache pinch. It’s like a gnawing Pressure feeling. I’m much stronger now with the walks. <div><br /></div><div>I’ve also started minimum 3x a week Turbo kick live Zoom classes, which has been fun and a great workout. I’m able to do the Jumps, and burpees fine. However, I still am careful and don’t do full air jumps, just slight smaller jumps for my safety. Still nervous to roll or land wrong. I am able to lay on the ankle in bed, still haven’t or needed to wear heals but I do find myself buying more wedge shoes. <div><br /></div><div>Midyear sale and I bought myself 5 pairs of shoes! It’s been a few months and ai haven’t worn any! 3 wedges, and 2 sneakers haha. Ob yea, I do now buy sneakers with great cushioned insoles and support. </div><div><br /></div><div>My scar looks the same, sometimes it still gets a bit itchy, and this time I got a mosquito bite.<br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hT14XGNEtc4/X2190u6ODmI/AAAAAAABBE0/rcdVZN-75ZUvwiYt93aeWwey9tL6BVQKQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/188904AB-AE5C-4F09-81F4-CB1F7E3DE38C.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="240" data-original-width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hT14XGNEtc4/X2190u6ODmI/AAAAAAABBE0/rcdVZN-75ZUvwiYt93aeWwey9tL6BVQKQCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/188904AB-AE5C-4F09-81F4-CB1F7E3DE38C.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5cH1lP5HRNY/X22BZ2oxJfI/AAAAAAABBFA/lHLSX5JQIwIE7xVFclt4TgJA0hZ1z3RCQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/EE00CC32-FA74-4E3D-A5CD-FA3AF7DC0853.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="240" data-original-width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5cH1lP5HRNY/X22BZ2oxJfI/AAAAAAABBFA/lHLSX5JQIwIE7xVFclt4TgJA0hZ1z3RCQCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/EE00CC32-FA74-4E3D-A5CD-FA3AF7DC0853.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>Don’t mind my sock tan. I still have my forever bruise on the inside of my ankle from when it was also dislocated with torn ligaments. That darker area on the inside ankle point. I’ll never forget how long it took to heal ligaments. That’s now twice with torn ligaments. First time I tore ligaments was from rock climbing and an ankle fracture. The surgeon said he’d have to look inside when it was open for ORIF to know if he needed to reconnect my ligaments, which he didn’t need to do. That’s just my normal now. </div><div><br /></div><div>I’ll continue my favorite weekend beach walks and hikes! No brace needed! As long as I have good sneakers with foam, I can walk comfortably. Running is still something I prefer not to do because of the hard stomping on concrete is really uncomfortable pressure I can feel. Unless I’m at a track, but I haven’t gone to ine in a while. Beach walk hikes it is. And turbo kick classes. Stay safe all!</div></div></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k04jtFG-kC8/X22D9lQXGSI/AAAAAAABBFU/rqZzCleKXJIaXJVa9OiZqkozBlH7Za0oQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/9E648698-CE60-46A8-B1EC-34B0FD5E91CF.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="180" data-original-width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k04jtFG-kC8/X22D9lQXGSI/AAAAAAABBFU/rqZzCleKXJIaXJVa9OiZqkozBlH7Za0oQCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/9E648698-CE60-46A8-B1EC-34B0FD5E91CF.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IKtnwcX-1Do/X22D9g2ijqI/AAAAAAABBFQ/PZaC8BC_bGo52vHw6DfcJHF8g6IFS4cZQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/76C752A9-5B40-4DCE-9E89-9D04CFA2F9A5.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="240" data-original-width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IKtnwcX-1Do/X22D9g2ijqI/AAAAAAABBFQ/PZaC8BC_bGo52vHw6DfcJHF8g6IFS4cZQCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/76C752A9-5B40-4DCE-9E89-9D04CFA2F9A5.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VAf3s_NAhBw/X22D9qYLggI/AAAAAAABBFM/1TkTxkapcuUeg1cCpfRijsqGpWY4Ztb8gCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/959E720F-2EA5-498D-B06D-92732A97EAEC.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="240" data-original-width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VAf3s_NAhBw/X22D9qYLggI/AAAAAAABBFM/1TkTxkapcuUeg1cCpfRijsqGpWY4Ztb8gCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/959E720F-2EA5-498D-B06D-92732A97EAEC.jpeg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>jenshungryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13134359105078888977noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7669169814036481549.post-54900743880416560582020-07-19T22:16:00.002-07:002020-07-19T22:18:01.280-07:007 years 10 months - Hiked 10 miles today! Today, I did a 10 miles city hike through Lover’s Lane in the Presidio. I then walked to the Inspirational Point and on the way back, through Lyon Street steps. It took me a total of 3.5 hours round trip back home. <div><br /></div><div>I felt tired on my last hour home, a bit achy in the ankle, no pain. Glad I sat for a bit to clean out the sand in my shoe. I’m enjoying these weekend walks while social distancing in these tough Covid-19 times we’re in the middle of. When will it ever end? </div><div><br /></div><div>Another exercise I’ve been addicted to lately is Turbo Kick live on Zoom and recorded classes on YouTube. I’m doing my best to stay healthy and trying to get fit. So far my ankle is holding up but it will never be 100% like it use to. A lot has happened and we’re all living through a moment in history. Here in California, we’re all under Shelter In Place orders. Working from home and trying to stay calm and sane. Hang in there, we’ll all get through this together. Stay safe everyone!</span><br />
<span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 255);"><br /></span>
<span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 255);">I’ve started exercising through the 24golive app from 24 Hour Fitness. I’ve been taking the Zumba, Cardio Core, and Yoga classes. The cardio had a lot of jumping jacks and jumping type moves which tired my ankle a bit. I felt the heat and soreness, even some pressure and a bit of pain pinches. Definitely needed to adjust to the modified versions where I don’t jump and do the modified squats and steps instead. </span><br />

I may try other classes to change it up. So far Ive been working out almost everyday. Every class has about 173k people, which is motivating. Must keep it up and build my strength. Until next time. <br />
It's my 7 years Ankleversary!!!<br />
<br />
I am about 2 weeks late on this post! I can't believe it's been so many years since I've had my surgery.<br />
<br />
I am feeling great! Still the occasional weather changes and random arthritis, sometimes cramping, and the continued tiredness after too long of a walk. My range in motion is great! No more braces needed.<br />
<br />
Must get good supporting shoes and I can wear heels! I've also been buying better athletic shoes with cushioned support and cute sandals that also have more cushioned support. Still sticking to the 2-inch heels to feel safe but at least I can wear heels. Also to be able to walk without discomfort.<br />
<br />
As for exercise, I've been doing a lot of steps at <a href="http://yelp.com/biz/lyon-street-steps-san-francisco" target="_blank">Lyon Street Steps</a> and <a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-16th-avenue-tiled-steps-san-francisco?osq=tiled+steps" target="_blank">Tiled Steps</a>, more walking, and hiking. Lately just more steps. I still haven't run, just too much impact from what I last remembered.<br />
<br />

<br />

<br />

<br />
Winter is coming and I always look forward to going up north to play in the snow! However, my sports have changed since I can't snowboard anymore since wearing boots irritate my ankle. I now go snowmobiling. Buying snow and water boots was also a challenge. I had to find shoes that didn't lay on the ankle. It had to fit under the metal and ankle parts to feel comfortable. Got myself a few pairs already and waiting to wear them.<br />
<br />
I'll update again in a few months when I get up there to play in snow!<br />
<br />

Especially enjoying the fresh air. </div>

I feel like I am still out of shape every time I'm back at working out at these steps. My ankle feels fine. I don't run these steps, I just walk it. Once I get tired, I do feel the heat around my ankle. No pain, no limping, no pinching. Mostly just heat, possibly due to inflammation or overworking the ankle. I'll just have to continue working out gradually to make it stronger. I'm back at it!</div>

Winter is coming! The arthritis randomly kicks in when it's cold and when it rains. I finally found the right type of shoes, booties, that fit my comfortably. Now that ankle boots are popular, the open ankle boots happen to be my favorite kind of boots! Extra thick heels, low inches, comfortable support! The thing I love most is the open ankle slit which does not rub against or lay on my incision scar area. I use to have ankle boots and hiking boots that is full ankle coverage but was uncomfortable because it rubbed against my ankle. I still have metal in there so the added pressure against it is very uncomfortable. Just the reason why I have quit snowboarding. Anything that is tightly snug against my ankle is not good. I feel pain, discomfort, and am unable to walk comfortably. Open ankle boots all the way! Now I have to shop for more styles! I'm noticing also, with large wedged heels, I can wear higher than 2 inches! But I'll stick to my 2 inch heels. That's the magic height. Time to go shopping! Definitely taking advantage of Black Friday sales! I've already bought 2 pairs of shoes! </div>

<span style="font-family: "times new roman";">It's my 6th year Ankleversary! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman";"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman";">I'm doing great! I just came back from a weekend spent in Napa. I went hiking on trails, wore my hiking trail shoes and did just fine. I get the occasional arthritis from the cold weather and rain still. Sometimes when I walk for too long, I do get tired and achy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times new roman";"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman";">My scar is the same. I haven't used any scar medication to cover it up. I wear it proudly. I don't swell up anymore. I do get tired after very very long walks. Long hikes meaning 3+ hours worth of walking. Sometimes I'll get a tiny itch at the very bottom of my scar, I guess the collagen there still gets inflamed every so often. I do feel the arthritis kick in during cold weather, rain and when rain is about to begin. Fun random spasms also still happen, not often. To this day, I still think about removing the hardware but won't dare to get surgery again if I don't need it or feel any pain. I can live without 3 inch stilettos. 2 inch heals are as high as I go unless I am wearing thick or wedged heels for that additional support. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times new roman";">I debated this year on joining a 5k run but backed out. I know I can't run, it's uncomfortable for me. </span><span style="font-family: "times new roman";">I still choose not to run to avoid any type of stress or injury. </span><span style="font-family: "times new roman";">I also haven't joined any competitive sports since. I go to Costco to help my family buy rice and carrying a 25 lb. bag of rice up a flight of stairs is getting better. I'm still working on strengthening my ankle doing more walking and hiking. My Fitbit motivates me. I haven't had to wear a brace for a while now.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "times new roman";"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman";">I went for an after work walk with friends around <a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/lake-merced-san-francisco" target="_blank">Lake Merced</a>. It was about 4.5 miles around the lake. Then entire trail around the lake was cement. After the walk, I did feel a little sore in the ankle. The last time I came here was when I tried running it and that was a bad idea. I've retired from running. Walking this lake going forward. No limping, success!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times new roman";">It was a perfect sunny day for a hike at <a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/sweeney-ridge-san-bruno?osq=Sweeney+Ridge+Trail" target="_blank">Sweeney Ridge Trail</a>! We had planned a 7.7 mile hike and it became a 12 mile total hike instead because we also headed to <a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/mori-point-pacifica" target="_blank">Mori Point</a>! There were steep hills coming back up. I felt fine and tired. My ankle did feel a bit tired and no limp! Once I got home, I started feeling a random </span>pinch pain whenever I took a step. I guess a 12 mile hike was a bit too long. It would've been better if we stuck with the original 7.7 mile hike. Time to rest up my ankle. I'm proud that I was able to walk about 22,000 steps without a brace or poles. Just trail hiking shoes! But more hikes to come! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love my weekly Body Combat classes! It's a great workout for the entire body. However, there are parts of the class where you do air kicks, jump kicks, jumping jacks, and side planks. I find myself still having trouble balancing on my right ankle/foot when holding a kick stance. Sometimes I can hold it when I focus, but other times I can't and topple over. I can definitely feel the pressure on my ankle after using it so much throughout the class. When it comes to jumping jacks, knee highs, and jump kicks I either do a baby jump or I hold back and stay on the ground to do a squat as an alternative move to jumping. The pressure of landing on my ankle with all of my weight feels straining. Sometimes I will get a sharp pinch when I land from a jump, or a quick pressure pain. It's uncomfortable when I do land or lean towards the outside of my ankle and that's when it gets painful. My ankle doesn't bend that way. So this is the downside with certain exercises for me me where I get a bit nervous jumping. I'm still nervous about twisting an ankle. But it doesn't stop me from trying and continuing my work to make my ankle stronger.</div>

Happy New Year! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I just got back from spending new years with my friends in Hawaii! I had such a great time, minus catching the nasty cold that's been going around. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I went on one hike called the <a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/koko-head-honolulu" target="_blank">Koko Head</a>, my first time hiking this with the hardware in my ankle. I was nervous but ambitious. I was curious how I felt afterwards. The steep upwards uneven steps was never ending. I had no problem going up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sbuaIa_XoYU/WlWFwu785PI/AAAAAAAA5j8/2g1zt9L7LZ0p5eeK2YftiP_dR4GqKW8mQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180102_113003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sbuaIa_XoYU/WlWFwu785PI/AAAAAAAA5j8/2g1zt9L7LZ0p5eeK2YftiP_dR4GqKW8mQCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_20180102_113003.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I finally made it to the top without issues! No pain! No soreness! No problem! I felt so accomplished and happy I made it! Even better, my ankle was happy! From 100 to 1000 steps! It took about an hour with my slow pace and many breaks for the view and water. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t-kPqf5xuSI/WlWFwn8Jq-I/AAAAAAAA5j4/Jm99kx5TXxUroT2q_hdzrfQHyRgzXTvLwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180102_122612.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t-kPqf5xuSI/WlWFwn8Jq-I/AAAAAAAA5j4/Jm99kx5TXxUroT2q_hdzrfQHyRgzXTvLwCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_20180102_122612.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After a break at the top, coming down was a different story. The steps were big, steep, and uneven. My legs were tired. Jello legs. At the beginning I started out with my right foot stepping down. The pressing stepping down was a bit much. It started to pinch at the wrong angles when I stepped down. Then my body weight was adding to the stress on my ankle while stepping/hopping down. Some parts of it I even had to crawl down because the steps were too far. It then got a bit too much. I changed sides and had to step down with my left foot first. By the time I reached the end, I started to limp a tiny bit because of the soreness. I wasn't in pain though. Just tired and the few times I felt the pinch pain while stepping down with my right ankle. My foot wasn't meant to bend that way stepping down with the hardware on. It felt awkward. However, I did it! I'd do it again! Probably once I'm in better shape. I'm more aware now how I step with the hardware in my ankle. I love hiking and it's always been a challenge to get back to it. But it is the greatest workout to stretch out my ankle! I love it! I look forward to my next hike! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I forgot to write about this a few weeks ago. I don't quite know how I hurt my ankle, but I noticed for a few days I was not able to put weight on it. I noticed a tiny pinching feeling and buckling randomly a few times. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I finally did it in when playing ping pong at work and stepped down and my ankle twisted in a weird twisting position. That night, I could not put weight on my ankle. It kept pinching and buckling. I almost needed my crutch. When lifting the foot up to stretch, I get this sharp pain. For about a week I wore my ankle brace which helped a bit. I also stopped working out to get some rest. Good thing I had a doctors appointment coming up for a general check up and by then I was feeling better by the day. It was not a fun two weeks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a bit of discomfort sleeping for a day or two. Elevated it for a few nights while sleeping helped. I just had to be careful with bearing weight on it and walking less. I finally got better and back to my old self. I need to be more careful. </div>
