9 years 3 months - Barry's Bootcamp

Wednesday - December 22, 2021

I started Barry's Bootcamp! The only treadmill and only time I actually run! The treadmill there provides bounce and cushion into my running step. I actually don't feel pain during my runs in class. No aches after either. So far so good with an hour class and about a 10 minutes total of running.

I've also been doing a lot of hiking during nice hot days. Also a lot of walking. I'm noticing my max amount of steps in a day is 13k steps. Anything more will cause my ankle to ache. I'd feel tired and achy for a day or two after. I'm also making sure I wear good hiking trail shoes so I don't slip.

I look forward to more hikes and workouts to come in the new year! More Body Combat, Turbo Kick, Hiking, and Barry's classes! I haven't been back to the gym and so far continue virtual at-home workouts. Next is to get into cycling, which I will soon pick up a bike from a friend.

Best of luck to all in the new year! Happy New Year!

9 years - Ankleversary!

Friday - September 24, 2021

Wow it's been 9 years!

I've picked up more Body Combat and Body Pump classes. I've even bought weights.

Other things I've enjoyed are walks to the beach. My max steps are around 13k steps, that is with nonstop walking, with maybe a few sitting and photo breaks. I do notice my ankle gets tired and achy. No limping, no horrible pain. Manageable. I also sometimes still have the random keloid itch on the scar.

So far so good! I'm continuing to see which exercises work best for me since we're still social distancing and I've not gone back to the gym as well. At home virtual workouts continue.

I bought a pair if Crocs and they’re so comfy! It’s all about the comfy shoes now!

I’ve joined a Facebook group with people who have gone through ankle injuries. It’s been a great support group to relate to others around the world!

My goal now is to lose some weight so it's less weight on my ankle.

Continuing on! To another year! Let's see what this next year will be like.

8 years 10 months - New Workouts

8 years 10 months - New Workouts

I started new workouts!

- Body Pump

- Hula Dancing

- PIYO

Since Covid lockdown, working out at home and virtually with teachers teaching us live classes through Zoom and Facebook Live. It’s been safe! I haven’t been back to the gym because of the new Delta variant and me staying safe for myself and the family.

I also bought new equipment! Been enjoying using these.

As for my ankle, it’s been fine. My max walking distance is 13k miles straight before I get tired and feeling a bit achy. I still get random keloid itchiness in the same spot! Doing well and continuing the exercises! Onwards I go!

8 years 6 months - Pinching pain, and buckling

Happy New Year!

Indoor dining just opened up last week in the city and I’m still playing it safe and staying home, social distancing, and virtual workouts at home.

Today I took a 45 minutes Turbo Kick class. Did a lot of jumping, jumping jacks, squats, and HIIT movements.

The dark spot is the keloid, itchy bumpy collagen scar, not so itchy this time.

I might have stressed out my ankle with all the jumping... about an hour later I felt a random pinching pain. When I went to walk my dog, my ankle buckled a few times with a pinching pain. And if I stand at a wrong angle, like leaning my ankle outwards, I also randomly buckle and get the quick pinch pain. Then I a bit of aching and I think a little heat on the lower part if the ankle. Maybe in future classes, not jump so much in Turbo and do squats as an alternative.

Roll on Biofreeze is making it feel better. Time to take it easy.
