9 years 10 months - Started playing Tennis

Monday - July 4, 2022

Happy July 4! I finally have time to write an update post!

I bought a tennis racket and recently started to play tennis for the first time since I broke my ankle!

The first time I played I wore the wrong shoes, running shoes were too soft to grip the floor when playing. It almost felt like I was running around in socks and got really tired. No pain, no soreness. My ankle held up!

The next time I played, I wore the right workout shoes that were more stiff and sturdy to support the entire foot for when I sidestep. This time, with stiffer shoes, I did notice my side stepping while playing, I feel a stiffness in my ankle where the metal is on my outer right ankle. I did notice leaning over to the right, it feels as if I can't bend my ankle/body to the right as I use to. It was a bit uncomfortable but not painful in the ankle. Felt like the rod was in the way but it was just against my bone and I can feel the pressure. But it's not bothersome to the point I need to stop playing. More tennis to come! So much fun and I'm so happy I can play!

I continue cycling at home virtually for workouts.

I've also started cycling outdoors around the city!

I am buying shoes with thicker heels! Also needs to be comfortable and avoid all hard ankle coverings against my ankle with the metal. So this is all fabric, sock-like material.

Even sandals I buy all now have ta o have cushion! And platform for extra security and support! My style for shoes has definitely changed over time, I've retired from stilettos and any heels past 2 inches high. What shoe will I buy next? Updates to come.

9 years 6 months - Got a Stationary Bike

Tuesday - March 1, 2022

Happy New Year!

So far I've started the year shopping for new shoes. More thick platformed heels and booties have been what I've been addicted to. I feel that extra support with bigger heels and I'm now all about comfort. I by many booties in this style or wedged shoes.

A friend recently gave me her stationary bike because she's moving. I love it! I use to cycle at the gym and take classes 2-3x a week anyways. With covid and gym closures and regulations, requiring masks for some, I now avoid having to pay for a gym membership and get to cycle at home through video classes! I've also picked up some weights and continue to do at home virtual live or recorded Turbo Kick, HIIT, Body Combat, and Kickboxing classes.

It rained for a day last week with a few cold days, I still and definitely can feel that arthritis in the ankle anytime this weather arrives. The sudden shock ache. It doesn't bother me much but it does startle me when it randomly hits.

Onwards and alternate ways to workout! All to best to you all recovering!

6 years 2 months - Winter is coming! Trying to find the right boots!

Wednesday - November 28, 2018

Winter is coming! The arthritis randomly kicks in when it's cold and when it rains. I finally found the right type of shoes, booties, that fit my comfortably. Now that ankle boots are popular, the open ankle boots happen to be my favorite kind of boots! Extra thick heels, low inches, comfortable support! The thing I love most is the open ankle slit which does not rub against or lay on my incision scar area. I use to have ankle boots and hiking boots that is full ankle coverage but was uncomfortable because it rubbed against my ankle. I still have metal in there so the added pressure against it is very uncomfortable. Just the reason why I have quit snowboarding. Anything that is tightly snug against my ankle is not good. I feel pain, discomfort, and am unable to walk comfortably. Open ankle boots all the way! Now I have to shop for more styles! I'm noticing also, with large wedged heels, I can wear higher than 2 inches! But I'll stick to my 2 inch heels. That's the magic height. Time to go shopping! Definitely taking advantage of Black Friday sales! I've already bought 2 pairs of shoes!
